Andy Kelso and Jeanna de Waal to Get Bootylicious on Broadway in 2014

Andy Kelso and Jeanna de Waal have some big boots to fill. The two performers are set to replace Tony nominees Stark Sands and Annaleigh Ashford, respectively, in the Tony and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award-winning musical Kinky Boots.

Kelso will step into the leading role of Charlie Price on January 28 (following Sands’ previously announced departure on January 26). He made his Broadway debut in Mamma Mia! and starred as Fiyero on the national tour of Wicked. De Waal will replace Ashford, who is leaving for her role on Showtime’s Masters of Sex, as Lauren on March 4. The actress most recently played Glinda on the Wicked national tour and has also been seen off-Broadway in Carrie, in the West End in We Will Rock You and on Broadway in American Idiot. Jake Odmark will join the cast in Kelso’s previous role of Harry.

As previously announced, Tony winner Billy Porter, who is one of Broadway.com’s most-clicked stars of 2013, will remain in the show as the unsinkable Lola.
